There are a number of Depression Tests online and although they are not as accurate a reading you would receive from a doctor or therapist the depression test can give you a pretty good idea whether or not this area in your life that should be brought up with your doctor.
DEPRESSION TEST
1. I’m tired a lot.
2. Decisions are more difficult to make lately.
3. I cry more than I used to.
4. I feel edgy and tense.
5. My sleep patterns have changed. (more, less or disrupted).
6. I stay to myself a lot.
7. I just don’t enjoy things the way I used to.
8. I have to push myself to do even the simplest of things.
9. I have lost interest in sex.
10. eat more/less than I used to.
Depression Test Results
If you answered more than three questions Yes it is a good idea to get checked out by your doctor
If you answered more than four but less then seven then there is a good chance you are experiencing a moderate depression episode
If you answered more than seven then you already know that you should be speaking to your doctor to catch this difficulty early
Depression Test Missing Key Factor
What the above test and the majority of other depression tests lack in their rather quick and simple test is time. Time is the factor that your doctor is looking for. If you have had the majority of symptoms of depression for only a few days then the doctor is not going to get overly worried but if you have had the above symptoms for quite some time the doctor should see red flags and advise some kind of treatment that starts immediately.

Your blog is very well designed and the content is very informative.
Your quiz is fine and to the point of someone who has had no idea of depression. I have been on meds since I was 28 (now 34) recently I have gone to the highest of lexapro generic and I am more tired, have less hope for my kids, want to run away and hide more and dream of watching the blood pour from my viens (I am a cutter should I add). People see me as very stable and a person they should and could lean on, which I want to be, they only see the strong me. but what do I do with the me who is falling apart? I am so incredibly tired. I know I scared you no answer necessary i dont expect but hope. oh well.
I am wondering after reading your comment if your dose is just too high. There seems to be a point with antidepressants where they turn from therapeutic to sedative which helps no one in the long run. If I were you I would be checking with the doc to find a better dose or even a different med or add on. Wellbutrin is pretty good for energy but it has its side effects as well. It took me a long time to find the combo I am now which works for the most part for the depression and the self harm tendencies that I deal with

[...] Depression is a disorder that is hotly debated whether it is a cause of a chemical imbalance or it is a condition that was created by poor decision making, emotional control and circumstance. If it is a chemical balance the best course of action is medication that will settle the brain chemicals but if it is the latter theory then the best response is therapy. What do I think? When I am on the right med my illness is tamer but it does not go anywhere and only through a lot of hard work and therapy will my depression ever be in check. I see anti depressants as a tool but not a cure. The meds calm down all of the distracting elements of the disorder so I can focus on the main problem which in my case is a faulty thinking process and a pass that will not go away. Anti depressants equal huge profits for drug manufactures who lean towards the chemical imbalance because that is where the money is. We live in a society where everyone wants action now and unfortunately too many people believe that an antidepressant is the solution when chances are all they needed was time and to create an ass groove on a therapists couch.
